Monday Mocktails // Pomegranate Grapefruit Shrub

Here we go with another mocktail with apple cider vinegar. I have done a few drinks with vinegar and I think it's so delicious and good for you. I know it might sound awful but when sweetened appropriately the vinegar really lends a wonderful flavor to fruit. Shrubs are fruit drinks with vinegar and usually honey. They were a very popular drink in the late 19th century through the mid 1900s. Apple cider vinegar has so many health benefits that it is considered to be a cure-all. I am a strong believer in this. It's good for metabolism, arthritis, lowering blood sugar levels, acid reflux, it cures hiccups, its great for acne, colds, and many many more. So I hope you give this winter mocktail a try it's really delicious. I'd love to know what you think about it.You can click the picture to print as well!

Friday Favorites: Get Warm And Cozy With Manzanita

I'm so glad to introduce you all to this lovely lady. Meet Rebecca of Manzanita. She has mad talent for crocheting and her blog is most inspiring. Her site has many really great DIY projects and I absolutely love her shop! Everything in it is so fun and whimsical and cute. I love crocheting so much but I couldn't miss out on one of her handmade treasures. I have just ordered the cute green laurel headband you see below (sorry peeps...this one's taken ha). She has such great taste and many of her pieces have total vintage style.  Please go take a look around her shop and site. I cannot wait to receive my headband!

They are older than the building I live in, older than everyone I know, and usually the oldest thing in the room. So much fun! They were made somewhere between 1910 and 1930. Treasures like this are exactly why I love vintage so much. Don't forget to take a look around. I hope you find some inspiration here.

Friday Favorites : Inspiration For Your Home with Bolaget

I'm am so excited to show you all Bolaget! It is a Swedish realty company (from what I can translate) that is based in Malmö, Sweden. They seem to lease and sell apartments that are just so stunningly beautiful. They often are furnished when the photos are taken, just breathtaking apartments. I have loved this site for a while now and it's so selfish of me not to share! Shame on me. I have found this site to be one of my most favorite sources of inspiration for my home and I hope it will be for you too . The house tours are exactly what I look for and this site has tons of them! They are bright and lively and have the perfect Scandinavian style. It makes me miss living in Sweden. I want to go back and live in one of these apartments! Oh sometimes life isn't quite so fair ha. Enjoy this site!

Monday Mocktails : Sweet N' Salty Chocolate Spice Cocoa

Hello lovelies! Happy first Monday of the year. I can't believe its 2012?! Last year just zipped by faster than any other year for me. I finally accomplished my goal of opening my vintage clothing shop and this website. We will see what's in store for this year. I decided to start this year's mocktails off with this luxurious and very good for you sweet n' salty chocolate spice cocoa. Hot chocolate actually beats red wine and tea in antioxidants. It also has tons of flavinoids that helps to process nitrous oxide in the body which help virus-infected blood cells, lower blood pressure, improve blood flow, and even help manage weight loss. And since I love home remedies...hot chocolate will get rid of that hacking cough when your sick. This recipe adds the addition of cayenne which has crazy results on sickness, blood flow, metabolism, and many other health benefits. So drink up, this hot cocoa is good for your body and your soul. It is also mostly a powder recipe so feel free to make it your instant cocoa mix, just add the agave and water when you're ready to serve!

Sweet N' Salty Chocolate Spice Cocoa
Serves 4

  • 1/2 Cup plus 2 Tablespoons Powdered Creamer
  • 1/4 Cup Dark Cocoa Powder
  • 1/4 Cup Milk Chocolate Cocoa Powder
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons Stevia or Sugar Substittute
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne
  • 1 teaspoon Sea Salt
  • 3 Tablespoons Agave Nectar
  • 2 Cups Water
  • Whipped Cream, for garnish (optional)
  • Lindt Sea Salt Chocolate, for garnish (optional)

  3. Pour into your favorite mugs and garnish with whipped cream, chocolate, and cayenne.
