Monday Mocktails: Apple Cinnamon Revival

Happy monday everyone. I thought I would start this new series. I will be doing a new "mocktail" recipe each week. It will be something delicious to start you week with. Treat yourself to something nice! You deserve to indulge. This first drink is my original recipe. It has lots of healthy ingredients to help energize you, speed up your metabolism, and it's so refreshing. And since it contains apple cider vinegar it's perfect if you are tired, feeling sick (especially for sore throat or sinus/allergy problems), or have any stomach issues, or if you just want a faster metabolism (I'll take two). Don't be afraid of the vinegar! In this drink it's really delicious I promise, just try it. This southern lady is here to treat you. Leave me some feedback I'd love to know what you think. Enjoy!

                                Apple Cinnamon Revival
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey
  • 1 Tablespoon Agave (the dark is my fav, any will do)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 2 Tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar ( I used Bragg's, try to used organic or raw)
  • 2 dashes Agnostura Bitters (near the sodas and mixers in most grocery stores)
  • 1/4 cup Hot Water
  • 3/4 cup Cold Water
  • Apple slice for garnish (highly optional)
  1. In a measuring cup or small bowl combine the honey, agave, vanilla, and cinnamon.
  2. Cover with 1/4 cup of hot water and stir until combined.
  3. Add the vinegar and bitters and stir.
  4. Pour over a glass of ice and fill with 3/4 cup of cold water.
  5. Garnish with your apple slice and enjoy.

Friday Favorites : Beauty Finds I Can't Live Without

1.Pixi Lipstain | 2.Yes To Tomatoes Facial Cleanser | 3.Mary Kay Eyeliner | 4. Burt's Bees Tomato Toner | 5.Tarte Recreat Foundation | 6.Loreal EverStrong Shampoo and Conditioner

We're starting a new series today. Friday Favorites! I'm so excited about sharing my favorite things with you. This week I'm featuring my favorite beauty products. These are things I have found over the years or friends recommended to me. They are also all rockstar products. They work great. Please try them.
  1. The Pixi Lipstain is my absolute favorite lipstain. I have tried a few and this is the only one that actually stains. When you buy a lipstain you kind of expect it to stay on. This one fades a little after several hours but if I drink something or eat it's still there (unlike some other popular brands that you could practically lick or wipe off). I found it at target. It is $18 which I thought was risky but to my surprise it was amazing. I have one in Youth and Happiness.
  2. The Yes to Tomatoes Facial cleanser is great. Favorite face wash ever. It really does clear my face, it's gentle, my skin actually feels softer, it doesn't dry out my skin, and it's all natural. It runs about $10. They sell it at Walmart and Target but where I live it's almost always sold out. If you find it you have got to try it.
  3. I used to have several different brands of eyeliner. I was always trying to find one that stayed on, didn't bother my sensitive eyes, and lasted. This Mary Kay eyeliner does just that. Several years ago I was a Mary Kay Sales girl and this is the one thing that everyone loved that used it. It stays where you put it and it's an affordable $10.
  4. The tomato toner I use after my face wash morning and night. It clears my skin and removes any left over make up. It's very refreshing. It's about $9.00. I founf it at Wholefoods but you can find it on Amazon too.
  5. This foundation is the first liquid foundation I've used that did not cause breakouts. It is full coverage and look really good on the skin. People are always complementing my skin when I wear it. (If only they saw what was under it ha!) It's a bit pricey at $30 but it feels so nice i thought I'd treat my skin to something nice. I found it at Ulta but you can also find it at Sephora.
  6. Last but not least is the Loreal Sulphate Free Shampoo and Conditioner Line. I recently discovered that most hair cleansers have sulphates which not only dry out your hair but it also kills your curly locks. My hair is super curly and I was completely shocked by how much better my hair looked when I used this shampoo and conditioner. They have several different ones but I use the Hydrate rosemary and mint. these are also about $10 and you can find them just about anywhere.

Take Flight This Sunday Lovelies

Another vintage inspired show premieres this Sunday. I already find inspiration in Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men, and even The Playboy club. Now we'll have Pan Am to swoon over. And it aires on Sundays! Thank you ABC.

My Vintage Hat Collection

This weekend has been quite eventful. Our car broke down on Saturday on the way home from work. We shipped it off Sunday to be fixed. I got to have lunch with my grandparents though. It made everything better. They are my favorite people. After they left town I went into one of those crazy spring cleaning modes. It amazing how much you can get done when you don't have access to a car. I put my Zune on shuffle, turned the volume up, and went through every box, suitcase, and pile I'd built over the last 6 months. Of course I found many things I'd lost. I found $100 bill in an old envelope! Ha I was so excited. I definitely don't remember how it got there. But I also discovered I have quite the vintage hat collection going. They are from the 20s through the 60s. Enjoy the peek.

Get Inspired! Vintage + Industrial Chic

The onset of fall always puts me in a playful energetic mood. The seasonal colors set an amazing atmosphere. Life is a bit more fun when there's a chill in the air. It's my favorite time to decorate my home. I absolutely love a mix of romantic elements, industrial pieces, and vintage finds. I thought I would share some of my inspiration. I've been gearing up for a very productive fall. I hope you are too.

My Annual Vacation Week

Gone for a vacation you guys! It's my annual vacation week. This time last year we were in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico drinking Don Julio blanco in hammocks on white beaches. It was so breathtaking and relaxing. It was amazing. Sadly this year we really couldn't afford a real vacation but we'll be going home to Mobile, Al to visit our families. I can't wait to see everyone, do some thrift shopping, antiquing, see some old friends, and hopefully slip off to the beach for a day. I'm going to leave the shop open so everyone can still view what's for sale. Keep your eye on the shop, I'll be adding several new items this week as well. Shipping on all purchases will be postponed until Sept 12th! Enjoy your week. I'll be trying to get some R&R.
