The Seersucker Social from Brandon Bloch on Vimeo.

The 2010 bike ride and lawn party was a major hit. This striking video makes it look like so much fun. This years event is set to go down in about a week. On June 4th at 2:00pm riders will set out in their dapper attire for a lovely cruise around Washington, D.C. If you love vintage, biking, and dress-up parties the Seersucker Social is the perfect event for you. Time is running out! I wish I could attend this event. For ticket information and the rest of the story click over to Dandies and Quiantrelles, they host fantastic vintage inspired events. Road trip anyone? What about a Birmingham bike ride?

Find of the Week

I decided to try a new antique store today and it was fantastic! It was the Urban Suburban Antiques store on Crestwood Boulevard. It's definitely very clean and well organized and they were super nice, a win win for me. I do however miss the glorious mess that Crestwood Antiques was, no offense to anyone but it was great. It was like sneaking into your grandmothers' attic or an abandoned house from the 1900's. There were treasures everywhere and you never knew what you were going to dig up. There was so much jewelry and bake ware and hats and books and ties and good character. The only things missing were ghosts and spiderwebs. I mean it was vintage wonderland. But sadly its no more. The new store however is very...accessible and the dealers there have some terrific items for sale. And I didn't even leave sneezing. I will be back for sure. I was so excited about my find I forgot about the shop! Ha! If you're in the area you should definitely make a stop.

Shop Update

It was such a beautiful day today. After work we went to Railroad Park for dinner and a drink, so nice. And then home to get crackin on my "to do" list. I was so excited to finally get some natural sunlight for a little photo shoot. I'm just finishing up the photo editing for D&B. Oh! you and I can now google Dean and Bettie Vintage. The countdown to my opening is on!

Sneak Preview

So while you get a tiny sneak peak of a few items from my collection maybe you can help me with my background choice for the shop pictures. I can always switch it up but I would like some feedback on what you think looks best. Thanks guys. As soon and i finish processing the rest of my treasures I'll post them to my etsy site for purchase.

Setting Up Shop

For several weeks now I've been hollowing out a space in my apartment for my future vintage shop. I've always loved vintage treasures more than modern ones. I'm most happy, and inspired, surrounded by beautiful, intriguing pieces from bygone eras. I've been collecting clothing and household items for about 10 years. Now I'm finally pushing forward to open an online vintage shop. I will post my progress as I try to make this small dream of mine come true. So welcome to Dean and Bettie Vintage and stayed tuned for the fun!
