Friday Favorites : 6PM.COM Best Online Shopping Deals!

Last week I saw these red shoes in the window of a store I knew i couldn't afford to walk into. I remembered seeing the brand name and the name stayed in my mind all day. I decided to google the shoes to see about how much they cost and of course they were $80 to $100. I wasn't entirely shocked but was disappointed. And then I came across They showed a price of $25 and of course I thought it was a scam but I checked the website out anyway. I found out that it was owned by I have ordered many things from Zappos and have always had good service but I still wasn't convinced. I read many reviews of the site and they were completely mixed. Some people loved 6PM and some people said their shoes were defective, a weird size, etc. I really wanted to try it though because they seemed to have a good return policy. So I ordered these red shoes and got the last pair and these cute purple ones too. They came in 2 days. It was such fast shipping. My shoes have no weird sizes or scratches or anything. If they are "reject" shoes from Zappos or overstock or whatever you cannot tell! They look and fit great and I'm so happy I tried this website! They don't have quite the catalog Zappos has and some of the shoes are not discounted as much as these that I bought but hey you might get lucky and find those designer shoes you've been eyeing or clothing for a STEAL! My Rialto Alex shoes retail for a little over $40 I got them for $16. And my Me Too Cage Suede Platforms that are going to rock my New Years Eve dress were only $25 and I was lucky enough to catch free shipping. I saved over $100 on 2 pairs of shoes with this website. I spent $43 on both pairs when it could have been $140 plus shipping. I couldn't be happier. I will use them again. But this time I have my eye watching these Diane Furstenburg Felicity Platforms.

Friday Favorites : Christmas/ Birthday Dream Wishlist

So here it is! My ultimate wish list favorites for Christmas and my birthday. With my birthday just 2 days after Christmas I always combine my list. Of course these things are only mine in a dream but maybe the powers of positivity will send them my way! Ha. My favorite mixer will always be the Kitchen Aid in Pearl. Makes my heart warm. I would so bake you something great. I've listed my favorite champagne in the whole world. If you hang around me much you'll find I really love bubbly. It's also my birthday tradition. And of course my 2 FAVORITE items from some of my favorite vintage shops on Etsy. These are perfectly my size! I've been oogling them for months. More like drooling but really there's not much difference. I'd be the happiest girl in the world to own these two beauties. They're so perfectly me! What is on your wish list?

Monday Mocktails: Grapefruit Splash w/ Coriander Infused Honey Simple Syrup

Grapefruit is positively my favorite winter fruit. It is low in calories and packed full of antioxidants, vitamin A, potassium, and pectin. And honey of course is one of natures natural energy boosters and healers. But did you know coriander was that amazing too? It lowers blood sugar, aids in digestion, prevents nausea, lowers cholesterol (just like grapefruit), and it is an anti-inflammatory that relieves the symptoms of arthritis! So this week's mocktail is a powerhouse drink packed full of nutrients and it's also completely irresistible. I challenge you not to guzzle this one. Not to mention it would be completely delicious with gin. Careful there, this drink is so good.

Grapefruit Splash w/ Coriander Honey Simple Syrup
Serves 6
  •  6 Grapefruits
  • 1 Cup Honey
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Tablespoon Ground Coriander Seeds
  1. Let's start by making the simple syrup. In a small pot combine the honey water and coriander. Cook on medium heat for 8-10 minutes. Stir constantly to make sure all the honey is dissolved.
  2. Let the simple syrup cool.
  3. You will need to juice your grapefruits. Fresh squeezed makes all the different in the world in how this tastes. There are several types of citrus juicers available. I prefer to quarter my grapefruits and use a hand press like this. You can find larger ones but I like to use what I have.
  4. Combine all of your ingredients in a pitcher and serve over ice.

I've been thinking of a recipe for this for a while now and finally had the time to make it. I hope you all try this. It was so easy to make and was a big hit at work. There are so many ways you could add to this recipe as well. It was be great with coconut, dehydrated fruit, or trade the ginger for cayenne pepper. Delicious!

  • 2 Cups Almonds, Raw
  • 1 Cup Pumpkin Seeds
  • 2 Cups Pecan Halves, Raw

Step 3: Place your toasted nuts in a large mixing bowl. BE CAREFUL THEY ARE HOT! Add your cocoa mixture, honey, and crystallized ginger and toss until completely combined. (you'll notice the cocoa will not look like powder anymore)

Monday Mocktails : Cranberry Lime Shrub

Hello lovelies! Happy Monday. This week I bring to you a delicious libation that dates back to the Colonial times. It's origin is sometimes said to come from the Carribean. I've found that it was brought to the States from Bermuda in the 1930s by Charles H. Baker, Jr. in his book The Gentleman's Companion. Shrubs are a drink made with fruit and vinegar. Historically they included rum or brandy, which would be so delicious in this drink, but in modern times they're typically non-alcoholic. Vinegar might sound so off-putting in a drink but really it's refreshing, extremely good for your health, and your waistline. Please give this classic drink a try. You can off course omit the vinegar if you like. Enjoy this refreshing mocktail!

    Cranberry Lime Shrub
    • 1 1/2 Cups Cranberry Juice
    • 1/2 of a Lime, freshly squeezed
    • 1 TBS Apple Cider Vinegar
    • 1 TBS Agave Nectar
    • 1 Teaspoon Stevia or sugar of your choice
    1. Combine the sugars and vinegar and stir until dissolved.
    2. Add remaining ingredients and serve over ice.
    3. This should make 2 drinks and you can sweeten it more if you like.

Listening Party // Newest Album from Florence + The Machine

It is no secret that I love this band. This music is so inspiring to me. I think Florence Welch has amazing talent as a writer and her voice is unbelieveable. She records her own music as well. This band has a way of reaching into your chest and stirring your soul. They're so incredibly talented. I have had the new album Ceremonials on repeat. I wanted to share a listen with you all. Turn up the volume and enjoy this beautiful piece of work. I hope it inspires you as it does me.

Find of the Week : 1940s Luggage Case

Yesterday I thought I'd take an adventure through my favorite antique store while in Mobile to visit my family for Thanksgiving. There are many here that I love but Mary Parker Antiques is one of those that you always find something amazing. From the moment you walk in the door there's treasure piled everywhere. It's just a sea of things to dig through. I always walk slowly through the bottom floor with such anticipation for whats upstairs. The upper floor is where you find the clothing boutique and books and old metal hospital beds. I found some shoes and an old 30s hat and then as I turned the corner to go back downstairs I saw this suitcase sitting on the stairwell. It was so stunning and beckoning. I stopped on the stairs in awe for a few moments and just starred. It was like I had seen something other-worldly and was afraid to approach. Then I smiled and walked over to touch it and make sure it was real. In my research so far all I can find is that this Tommy Travleler luggage was most likely made in the 40s even though it seems a bit older. Looks like it should be in the prohibition era filled with whiskey bottles, lace, gorgeous silk dresses, and the stockings of a dangerous woman. Ha I absolutely love it! I don't think I can part with this one but I wanted you to see it.
